Henry Scott Tuke's perfectly positioned 'Sleeping Sailor' shows Harry Cleave posing on the mizzen boom of a derelict French barque the Mazatlan, moored in Falmouth harbor, in the summer of 1905. The painting sold for £15.
Tuke used the old ship as a floating studio and did several paintings on board including 'The Mid-Day Rest (Sailors Yarning)' seen after the jump.
