Debut novelist Nathan Filer has won the Costa Book of the Year Award, besting more established writers Kate Atkinson (Life After Life), Lucy Hughes-Hallett (Gabriele d'Annunzio: Poet, Seducer, and Preacher of War), Chris Riddell (Goth Girl and the Ghost of a Mouse), and Michael Symmons Roberts (Drysalter).
In November, St. Martins publishsed Filer's book in hardcover under the worse title Where the Moon Isn't [Kindle], but unfortunately for them, readers are buying the Borough Press's paperback released earlier this month with its original title The Shock of the Fall, which today is enjoying an online sales rank about 10,000 spots higher than the other's.
