The ABA has announced this year's winners of the Indie Choice book awards, voted by independent booksellers: The Marriage Plot
, Blood, Bones & Butter: The Inadvertent Education of a Reluctant Chef
[Kindle], The Tiger's Wife
, and Between Shades of Gray (which is a YA novel about a Lithuanian girl in 1941, not E.L. James porn).
As often happens, the more interesting works are the runners-up on the various Honors Lists, most especially two favorites from last year's queer lit poll, Nina Revoyr's Wingshooters [Kindle] on the adult list and Justin Torres' We the Animals on the debut list. Readers yearning for a flowery expat romp through Athens might try Simon Van Booy's Everything Beautiful Began After.
