I would have to agree on Beautiful Thing. It was great with all the turmoil of coming out in high school in the early 90s...especially since any remotely gay character I found in a film tended to be cast as either tragic, addicted, damned, or a pedophile (most likely a murderous pedophile)...it was great to find Beautiful Thing and to see that even if there was turmoil and pain that a movie could have a happy ending, that not everything had to be darkness.


Thanks for this posting and the lead to the film list. Makes me wonder which film I would choose. Probably all of those Andy Warhol underground films this NJ teenager would race to NYC to see each time a new one would appear. If I had to pick one: 'Chelsea Girls.'
