What's your hurry? Twenty-seven years after Saturday Night Live hired its first openly gay cast member, the show is ready to hire lesbian comedian Kate McKinnon. Reports say she'll appear, in a try-out of sorts, on next week's show hosted by Sofia Vergara from Modern Family. For three seasons Kate appeared on Logo's The Big Gay Sketch Show. Rumors abound that Kristen Wiig may be ditching SNL for Hollywood, and that Abby Elliott "also expressed interest in leaving at season's end."
So, who was that out gay performer hired in 1985? Terry Sweeney. FYI, Kate wasn't watching. She was born in 1984.
