Jameson Currier, publisher of Chelsea Station Editions, announced plans for a new gay literary journal called Chelsea Station modeled on the storied pioneer Christopher Street. Currier says Issue I will launch in November 2011 and the deadline for submissions is October 1, which seems tight. He wants "original and unpublished fiction, nonfiction, poetry, essays, memoir, humor, narrative travelogue, interviews, and reviews (books, theater, television, and film) relating to gay literature and gay men." He adds, "While we are open to all sorts of experimental forms, we tend to gravitate to more traditional literary writing." No payment.
Currier's new novel is The Third Buddha [[Kindle]].
The announcement of the journal is very welcome news. Let's hope more small gay press publishers follow suit, especially those that extend beyond gay male writing exclusively. Wouldn't it be amazing if Peter Cameron started a Wallflower journal?
A: Yes, amazing.
