It's hard to believe that this book could cause such a hullabaloo, but thanks for reminding us again of the dangers of prejudice. The photo is stylish, stunning, and resonant--as are most of your own photos and others that you choose. Thanks, Thebes.

Instead of The Unlit Lamp I'd recommend Hall's A Saturday Life, which was reissued by Virago Modern Classics in 1989. It's a comic novel, while (as I recall, and it's time I reread it) sticking with the young-butch-seeks-relationship-with-older-femme mode Hall liked to tell. I think it even has a happy ending. In 1925!
