The stuff about testosterone in the National Geographic article is probably wrong, though. The relation of testosterone to aggression is unclear at best (as is the definition of aggression for scientific study). It's as likely that aggression produces testosterone as vice versa. There's an article called "The Trouble with Testosterone" which goes into this problem, it might even be online, and there's also the book "Sexing the Body" by the lesbian scientist Anne Fausto-Sterling as a further corrective.
