This article is not really giving me a pleasure in reading it as the author sounded prejudging a lot and leaning towards some political, ethnic and religious sides, which is a terrible thing.
Algerian, gay, Muslim or whoever that person is, should not make it a bad thing naming a town after him as long as he did something good to whoever's community and/or to the humanity as a whole.
Example, in Algeria there are lots of places named after French invaders, though they were christian, ennemies (1830-1962), etc.
So I hope you got the point Mr the writer of this article.
