Earlier this week came the announcement of the Irish Novel of the Year, which turned out to be yet another honor for Eimear McBride's A Girl is a Half-formed Thing, the unstoppable debut that was written in six months then languished unpublished for nine years. Previously, it won the Goldsmiths Prize, was shortlisted for the Folio Prize, and is currently a finalist for the Orange Baileys Women's Prize.
