Booker Shortlist: Eng, Levy, Mantel, Moore, Self, Thayil

Is it Will Self's year, can Hilary Mantel really take the prize again for her sequel to her winning Wolf Hall, or will an underdog snatch it away? Some of the questions today as the Man Booker judges reveal their shortlist:

Hilary Mantel, Bring Up the Bodies [Kindle]

Alison Moore, The Lighthouse [Kindle]

Will Self, Umbrella

Jeet Thayil, Narcopolis [Kindle]

The winner will be announced at a tense, televised dinner streamed live on the web on October 16. Among the novels cut from the longlist are Rachel Joyce's entertaining debut The Unlikely Pilgrimage of Harold Fry and Michael Frayn's comedy Skios.
