So you want to be a successful gay writer? Get a tv show. Continuing the recent unprecedented string of hits by Rachel, Ellen, Suze, Andy,
and Glee costar Jane, Chris Colfer debuts this week at #1 on the New York Times children's bestseller list with his first book, The Land of Stories: The Wishing Spell [Kindle]. According to THR, the Little, Brown novel "is about Alex and her twin brother Conner, who use a magical book to travel to a place where fairy tale characters are alive. They encounter witches, wolves, goblins and trolls, but struggle to find a way to return home."
Golden Globe winner Colfer is openly gay and versatile: He also wrote the screenplay of the upcoming movie Struck by Lightning, a comedy in which he stars. His character is a high school senior killed in the opening scene who then looks back at the way he blackmailed his classmates into... contributing to his literary magazine. More promising, Dermot Mulroney costars as his DILF. It opens in December.
