Born August 10: Mark Doty

Mark Doty. There should be a temple, a cathedral, an extra moon. Large enough to honor the three great memoirs -- Firebird, Heaven's Coast, Dog Years -- and the genius poems, the best of which are collected in Fire to Fire, winner of the National Book Award in 2008. Today he's 59. His husband since 1995 Jen in comments says Doty and the terrific novelist Paul Lisicky parted ways last year.

I can't comment on the book, but I also found the reviewer's sentence about "gay literature" offensive!
