Today he's 59. His husband since 1995 Jen in comments says Doty and the terrific novelist Paul Lisicky parted ways last year.
It appears that he and Paul parted ways last year.

I can't comment on the book, but I also found the reviewer's sentence about "gay literature" offensive!
