Of the hundreds of people marching on Wall Street yesterday to mark the 25th anniversary of ACT UP, nine were arrested. Among the many artists, filmmakers, and writers in attendance, I saw Ira Sachs wearing a baby, Tom Kalin talking truth about My Week with Marilyn, John Weir, and Daniel Allen Cox. The demonstration was a joint action with Occupy, and groups came from at least as far as Boston and Philadelphia to demand more aids funding and to honor the New Yorkers who started it all in 1987. The Nation offers some background.
