For whatever reason, the debut Brooklyn black teen lesbian coming out movie Pariah doesn't have quite as strong buzz as the white lesbian family film The Kids Are All Right (big stars, known director) or the Harlem black teen film Precious (Sundance winner, backed by Oprah and Tyler Perry). Pariah opens today in New York, Hollywood, and San Francisco to solid reviews. On January 6 it expands to Cambridge, Chicago, Dallas, DC, San Diego, and Seattle. This is your triple chance to support women directors, black film, and queer movies, all wildly underrepresented at the box office.
